Job Seekers: Resources
The Missouri Resource Guide for Workers with Disabilities was created to provide help for Missouri Workers that are willing to work with current information on ways to find jobs, preparation necessary prior for a job interview, preparation during and following job interviews, expectations in the workplace, how to request accommodations, the importance of good communication skills (written and verbal), accessing natural supports, how to start your own business and the importance of utilizing community resources in the job search process. Job seekers with disabilities bring a wealth of experiences and knowledge to the workplace; however, there is often a lack of knowledge about the best method(s) to market him/herself for meaningful employment which has opportunities for upward mobility within the agency. This guide has placed emphasis on the initial step for individuals with disabilities to conduct self assessment to determine what he or she is seeking in the work place and, to determine the talents and skills they have to offer employers. Individuals with disabilities will find this document also to be a valuable tool once a job offer has been extended. It will assist him/her in determining if the position offered is the best fit for him/her. Additional information on the most appropriate and acceptable manner to respond to a job offer has also been included.
